PC Edward Watkin's truncheon
This truncheon was carried by PC Edward Watkins, 881City, on the night he discvered the mutilated body of Catherine Eddowes, the Ripper's fourth victim. He came on duty to patrol the Mitre Street area at 9:45pm, Saturday, 29 September, 1888. He was continuously patrolling his beat from 10:00pm, until he discovered Eddowes's body in the South-West corner of Mitre Square at c.1:44am. He was last in the square at c.1:30am.
